Children's library expansion and $120,000 Friends donation
Murrieta
Summary
The children's area expansion is moving forward — construction is at insulation, drywall and roofing stages, and the Friends of the Library are donating $120,000. But there's a catch: the construction contract needs an amendment increasing the cost by about $800,000 plus 15% contingency, going to City Council.

Impact analysis
The expansion's construction cost could grow by over $800,000 plus a 15% contingency under a proposed contract amendment — but the Friends of the Library are chipping in $120,000.
Families and kids get a bigger, better children's library with more books, games and programs.
Taxpayers could ultimately foot the increased construction cost if the City Council approves the contract amendment.
