Civic issues
Topics getting the most attention in Murrieta public meetings, ranked by how frequently they come up.
Capital Improvement Plan prioritization and available funding
The city wants to add 19 projects — fire apparatus, park repairs, a traffic signal upgrade, and street resurfacing — to its five-year spending plan. The commission checked that they fit the General Plan; the council decides the money in June and July.
E-Bike and E-Scooter Rules Adopted
Murrieta leads Riverside County in e-bike ER visits, with 335 kids aged 10–14 treated in 2025 alone and a 25-fold rise in visits since 2021. The new ordinance adds sidewalk speed caps, parental accountability, a diversion course, and group-riding limits — but council members noted state law prevents a local minimum riding age.
Hayes Avenue Bridge Emergency Repair
The bridge, closed since February 2025, is running behind schedule. New precast arch materials arrive May 26, construction starts early May, and completion is now expected by mid-June.
